Build and Finishout
What the job actually involves.
Roofing is what we are. This is the work the general contractor’s license also makes possible, and on a storm job it is often the difference between one contract and four.
A commercial finishout is the job between a developer’s shell and a business opening its doors: framing, ceilings, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, finishes, the whole interior built to a tenant’s plan and inspected to the city’s code. It is scheduling work as much as construction work, because a dozen trades have to arrive in an order that does not undo what the last one did, and every one of them has an inspection gate to clear.
How It Works
Call or send the form
Tell us what you are seeing and where the property is. A storm date helps if there was one.
Free inspection
About 15 to 20 minutes on the roof and in the attic, and you get a written report with photographs to keep.
The scope, in writing
What the roof needs, what it costs, and on a claim, what the carrier has and has not allowed for.
The work
Roof first, then the gutters, fence, windows or siding if the storm took those too. One company for the lot.
The Difference
Where these go wrong.
The residential half is remodel and buildout: a kitchen, a bathroom, an addition, a room finished out that was never finished. Same principle, smaller cast, and the same thing decides whether it goes well, which is whether one company is accountable for the sequence rather than the homeowner acting as the general contractor by accident.
The storm case is where it matters most. A hailstorm large enough to take a roof off often takes other things with it, and a claim covering interior water damage, a fence, siding and windows needs somebody who can carry all of it. That is the same reason the license is useful on the roofing side.

Build and Finishout, answered.
Is this a separate company?
No. It is the same license and the same office. JWC is a general contractor that specializes in roofing, which is why this work is on the list at all.
Do you take on finishout work with no roofing in it?
It comes up, and the way to find out whether yours is a fit is to describe the project. The scheduling and the trade mix vary enough that it is worth a conversation rather than a yes or a no on a web page.
What does a finishout usually start with?
A set of plans and a walk of the space. From there the sequence and the inspection gates are what drive the schedule, and the schedule is what drives everything else.
Can interior repair go on a storm claim?
Where the interior damage came from the storm, yes, and it is one of the reasons it helps to have one contractor documenting the whole scope rather than several documenting parts of it.
