Inspection
What the job actually involves.
An inspection takes about 15 to 20 minutes and you get a written report with photographs for your records. It is free, and it is free whether or not there turns out to be anything to do.
Three kinds of people ask for one. Someone who has just had hail and wants to know whether they have a claim. Someone buying or selling a house who needs to know what the roof has left in it. Someone who has had a stain appear on a ceiling and wants to know how bad it is. The report is useful in all three cases for the same reason: it is dated, it has photographs in it, and it exists whether or not you do anything next.
How It Works
Call or send the form
Tell us what you are seeing and where the property is. A storm date helps if there was one.
Free inspection
About 15 to 20 minutes on the roof and in the attic, and you get a written report with photographs to keep.
The scope, in writing
What the roof needs, what it costs, and on a claim, what the carrier has and has not allowed for.
The work
Roof first, then the gutters, fence, windows or siding if the storm took those too. One company for the lot.
The Difference
Where these go wrong.
What gets looked at is the whole assembly rather than the shingles. The field of the roof for bruising, granule loss and lifted courses. The valleys, where most of the water goes. Every penetration, because pipe boots and flashing are where leaks start. The ridge and soffit ventilation, since a roof that cannot breathe ages from underneath. The gutters and downspouts, which take hail as visibly as anything on the house. The attic, where there is access, because the underside of the deck shows a leak long before a ceiling does.
The point of the photographs is that you should not have to take a roofer’s word for what is on your own roof. A report you can read, with pictures of what was found, is the difference between a diagnosis and a sales pitch. If the roof is fine, the report says the roof is fine.

Before You Call
Inspection, answered.
Is it really free?
Yes, and the report is yours whether or not you hire anyone. Their value to us is that most people who need a roof would rather buy it from whoever gave them a straight answer first.
Do I need to be home?
It helps, because the useful part is walking through the photographs with you afterwards. It is not required, and the report can be sent through instead.
Will you go in the attic?
Where there is access, yes. The underside of the deck is often the fastest way to confirm a leak and to see how long it has been going on.
How often should a roof be inspected?
Once a year is reasonable in North Texas, and after any storm that dropped hail on your street. Damage that gets found in the year it happened is a claim. Damage found four years later is usually called wear.
What if you find nothing?
Then the report says so, and you have a dated record that the roof was sound on that day. That is a genuinely useful document to have before a sale or after a marginal storm.
