Is Your Roof Worth a Claim?
Five questions on what the storm did and what your roof was like before it.

Filing a claim that gets denied is worse than not filing one: it goes on your history and pays nothing. These five questions sort the roofs that are probably worth a look from the ones where the answer is most likely a repair or nothing at all. Nothing here is a decision. It tells you what to do next.

Worth having documented before you call your carrier
The pattern you have described is what a hail claim usually looks like: a recent storm, a roof old enough to be vulnerable, and dented soft metal on the house. The next step is a written inspection report with photographs, so that you know whether the damage is there before you open a claim. A denied claim still goes on your history.

This sounds like a repair rather than a claim
What you have described points at a specific failure rather than storm damage across the roof. A cracked pipe boot, a flashing detail or a run of wind-lifted shingles is usually a repair, and the repair often costs less than a deductible, which makes a claim pointless. Getting it found and fixed is the cheaper path.

Not enough to tell from here, and that is normal
Hail bruising on a composition roof is invisible from the ground, so most of these questions cannot be answered from a driveway. An inspection takes about 15 to 20 minutes and you get a written report with photographs to keep, whether or not there turns out to be anything to do.

The scope, in writing
What the roof needs, what it costs, and on a claim, what the carrier has and has not allowed for.

The work
Roof first, then the gutters, fence, windows or siding if the storm took those too. One company for the lot.
First time replacing our roof. They were outstanding and walked us through the entire process to include what to expect from the insurance company. After successfully navigating the insurance coverage, the team arrived to replace the roof. Extremely professional with top quality work. They covered EVERYTHING and a minimum of nails were found in the yard after completion with NONE in the pool. Hardworking, honest and a quality end product. They have earned my respect and future business.
