What a documented hail inspection looks like up close: a test square in chalk, the strikes inside it counted and measured.
This is the whole argument on a hail claim, reduced to one photograph. A square is marked out on a slope, the impacts inside it are found and circled, and the count and the size are recorded. Adjusters work the same way, which is exactly why it is worth having the roof documented in that format before one arrives.
A bruise like the one in the frame is a fracture in the fiberglass mat under the surface. From the ground there is nothing to see. What it means is that the granules over that spot are gone, ultraviolet light now reaches the asphalt, and that part of the roof will fail early.

What the roof needs, what it costs, and on a claim, what the carrier has and has not allowed for.

The work
Roof first, then the gutters, fence, windows or siding if the storm took those too. One company for the lot.
From a storm damage customer
I highly recommend JWC for your metal roofing needs. Jason stopped by my office one day to point out some areas in my 20+ year old metal roof that needed attention. He went up on the roof and "patched" some areas for no charge and then helped me with the insurance process to have my roof replaced due to several years of hail damage. Jason worked tirelessly with the insurance company for months to get my roof and car port covered. My new roof is absolutely stunning!
